Photo spam... PART 2

Most annoyingly (apart from the lack of auto spell-check) I can't caption the photos I post. IF IT AINT BROKEN, BLOGGER, DONT FIX IT!

Enjoy more photos :)

Big Photo upload!

Partly due to (what I feel) is a mundane life now... I don't tend to update here as much as I should as I feel like "HEY HEY WOAHH ANOTHER LOCKDOWN HERES WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING FOR 2 WEEKS ON MY OWN LOL" But I have realised how bad I've been with updating here. The website I use (blogger) to do these blogs changed their format. It's like having to code your myspace all over again. Girl aint got time for that! As a visual person, I cannot be like "oh yes, I need to lookqt 200 characters of text to move this photo to left and whateverwhateve"
But I do enjoy keeping this little timeline, as it's almost hit 4 years old now! Anyway. Blablabla Here's a load of photos from May(ish) time until now (end of Septemeber) that I never uploaded. It's mostly just animals. Bye

RE: I ate so many burritos

So, my post I did on August 1st I never finished, or posted. I can only put the reason down to my dinner being ready, or the dogs doing something worth me getting distracted. I actually don't know what to type now I'm here. Let's talk about dogs, shall we? HELL. WHAT ELSE DO I TALK ABOUT THESE DAYS? Honestly. What did I talk about before? Everyone who reads this (hi Nan and Grandma)..what did I talk about before my brain became completely obsessed with all these fur babies?! So updates!
Acnah. Good boy. Wasn't getting along so well with Pixie. They had a big fight one night and I was fed up with the tension in the house so I went to stay with Jared and I took Acnah with me. I've had Acnah since early April, and he's never eft the house. Nore shown any interest in leaving the house. But as soon as he got to J's he was having a big old sniff around, let out a whole load of his "happy growl/ doggy purrs/ weird grumbling wooing noises" and was right at home. A few days later, we tried it again.... and then again... then me and J had... the talk. Which went something like this
"Jared, Acnah likes your house...how would you feel about having him for a few days..."
"sure" and that was it. IT's now been a few days (about 2 weeks) and Jared is in love with Acnah now tht Acnah is finally allowing J to touch him. Such a good boy! I don't know how I'm going to get Acnah to ever come back to my house now!

Pixie. Oh where do I start with Pixie?
She loves killing chickens. And geckos. And mice. And frogs. And grasshoppers. And anything that moves. Like pillows. She loves killing pillows. And digging. Se loves digging so much, she shared her gardening passion with Dow. So now the two of them help deconstruct my flowerbed and relocate the dirt to my bed. They're so hardworking. They do it every other day. Tuesday. She's reunited with her family on Tuesday. Dow. Good boy. 11/10 His fur is great, he's all vaccinated, just getting him desexed then he's on his way home! I'm sure he's gonna miss his best friend Pixie though. Once I've got my head aroung the new Blogger format I'll add some before and after photos. Oof Good boy. Likes head pats. Likes food. Loves rolling in the grass. Super cute and cancer free!
He's leaving tomorrow morning, which I'm gutted about. But alas- I am excited for a few days dogless so I can have a fully deep clean of everything. I haven't been dogless for almost 6 months, so just a few days without 6 hour deadlines would be greeeat!
DOGS SIDE
I also have friends!
Caro, my friend from Battambang/Koh Rong came to visit and Eline visited from PP last week. So that es cool. Another friend from KR has started to work with me, taking on some big dogs. Which is awesomeeeee!
What else? Legit, nothing. Oh! I've been shortlisted for a judge at a pet expo here. That's exciting. I've made a sign for a tuktuk. That's exciting too. Uhh, I've planted some pumpkin. That's going well. Is this what your late twenties does to you? Prepares you for life as an almost-retiree like my Dad (who just LOVES his garden!) The title of this post refers to the 3 for $8 deal at Angkor Tacos in July. July was a good month.

I ate so many burritos

AUGUST 1st A great month if you ask me. Alas, now it's no longer 3 burritos for $8 I can focus on getting healthy and filling my belly with fruit. IT's not so easy now mango season is over, unfortunately. July went well. Had bits a bit more work, ate lots of 1/2 price bakery goods... I literally have no idea what I've done. Every day seems to have blurred into one. I honestly can't even think of what I've done in the past three weeks. How boring. But, in these times, boring is better than bad. C19 vaccinations seem to be going well here. I got my first dose of Sinopharm...the most reputable vaccine there is... but luckily there's only a 3 week wait between 1st and 2nd dose. We got the news a couple of days ago that the Delta varient has made it to Cambodia from workers coming in at the Thai boarder. That means we've gone into lockdon...again. But you know me, I just plod along, and accept any fur baby thrown in my direction during a lockdown! This lockdown sees Pixie and Dow joined by Oof Oof (a.k.a Amok). He's being treated for TVT cancer. It's really common over here, and it's highly contagious between dogs. Really nasty too- I wouldn't recommend googling it.
But so far so good, he's a super good boy. The vets will be coming here for his Chemo. Usually the chemo they're given is highly effective. Here's hoping!

EDIT: realised I never finished this, or posted it. So here- only 26 days late haha.

Thursday, 8 July 2021

It's July, and I think it's fair to say that the wet season is fully here now. Not that I'm complaining, I love that it's breaking up the heat...and you can't quite beat swimming in the rain. Cycling through swamps of mud though? Not as much of a fan. I've got the dog gang up to three now. I have Acnah, Dow, and Pixie. Pixie is the newest recruite. She's a customer that I'll have until end of August when her parents come back from France. She's a character. Doesn't want to sit still in bars. Likes to climb on cars when we go for walks. A pure escape artist. Likes trying to chew off her leash...easy. But very affectionate and likes to sleep next to me in my bed. Awww Dow is my good boy (the BEST doggy). He has a bad skin condition that, not only made him stink, but lose his fur. His whole head was scabbed and dry when I first met him. He must've been in so much pain. I know when I have chapped lips it's the worst...but almost your whole body? Yikes!
But after a variety of treatment (eye drops, ear drops, ear cleaning, medicated baths, oral medication, suppliments, diet change...just to name a few) he's coming on great. His first few tufts of hair are returning to his head. He's just such a lovely boy. Even with all the (some, not so nice) treatment he always lets me do it. He's so gentle and when I call him back on our walks- he comes straight away. 10/10. Good boy. Acnah. Oh, Acnah. Still hates everyone apart from me. Still hates everything apart from dinner time and cuddles with me. It's been a bit heartbreaking though. His fur has grown, almost entirely, back. He makes the best happy growls/purrs when he sees me...or when it's dinner time. But compairing his progress to Dow, and his quality of ife next to Pixie...it's heartbreaking to see his lack of progress. His hips and ribs still stick out, he still can't walk properly or even run. It got me thinkng about his quality of life. When he's not cuddling me, or eating...is he happy? Simple answer, no. Add that with the fact that everytime Dow or Pixie walk past he throws a fit at them from the safety of his cushions. I spoke to the vets and we all decided to go ahead and try with some new treatment. It's steroids. There are a few options that could be wrong with him. It could be Leishmaniasis, despite the negitive tests. It could be cancer. It could be autoimmune. It could be something else. We've tried Leish medication already, and there wasn't any improvement. He was stable, but was he getting better? No. It could be cancer, but the end result will stil be the same. We have decided to give it a shot and try him on the steroids. If they don't work, they will kill him. It's a 50/50 either way. BUT other pet stuff here too IT's going well. I've managed to get work for all the team last month, and we've had a whole new load of dog walking requests. Luckily for us, an old island friend has just moved up so she fits RIGHT into the role of dog walker. COVID has finally caught up with us in Siem Reap. We're hitting 150 cases a day now, luckily the vaccine is just starting to roll out across the city. Mostly I just ignore it, because COVID/No COVID I still wear my mask, I still keep my distance, I still trade out my social life for my furry friends....so nope. No change! Last week I did finally get to escape Siem Reap though. I got a share taxi down to Battambang to visit some friends from when I lived there last year. That was the much needed break from town that I had been craing sinc last year. It was nothing major, a little run, walking the doggies there, some cycling, a couple (literal couple) of beers. I'm just feeling so refreshed now. That combo'd in with mne and Jared's Daycation to Anatara resort for their Brunch buffet. Yep. Just what I needed. COMBO THAT WITH ANGKOR TACOS $3 BURRITOS. ITS GONNA BE A GREAT MONTH!

The bats are free as well, and we played Angkor Putt again and Dow laid in the water on one of the holes. So yep That's the peak of excitment. Nothing much to see here now. As you were.
