It's July, and I think it's fair to say that the wet season is fully here now. Not that I'm complaining, I love that it's breaking up the heat...and you can't quite beat swimming in the rain. Cycling through swamps of mud though? Not as much of a fan. I've got the dog gang up to three now. I have Acnah, Dow, and Pixie. Pixie is the newest recruite. She's a customer that I'll have until end of August when her parents come back from France. She's a character. Doesn't want to sit still in bars. Likes to climb on cars when we go for walks. A pure escape artist. Likes trying to chew off her leash...easy. But very affectionate and likes to sleep next to me in my bed. Awww Dow is my good boy (the BEST doggy). He has a bad skin condition that, not only made him stink, but lose his fur. His whole head was scabbed and dry when I first met him. He must've been in so much pain. I know when I have chapped lips it's the worst...but almost your whole body? Yikes!
But after a variety of treatment (eye drops, ear drops, ear cleaning, medicated baths, oral medication, suppliments, diet change...just to name a few) he's coming on great. His first few tufts of hair are returning to his head. He's just such a lovely boy. Even with all the (some, not so nice) treatment he always lets me do it. He's so gentle and when I call him back on our walks- he comes straight away. 10/10. Good boy. Acnah. Oh, Acnah. Still hates everyone apart from me. Still hates everything apart from dinner time and cuddles with me. It's been a bit heartbreaking though. His fur has grown, almost entirely, back. He makes the best happy growls/purrs when he sees me...or when it's dinner time. But compairing his progress to Dow, and his quality of ife next to Pixie...it's heartbreaking to see his lack of progress. His hips and ribs still stick out, he still can't walk properly or even run. It got me thinkng about his quality of life. When he's not cuddling me, or eating...is he happy? Simple answer, no. Add that with the fact that everytime Dow or Pixie walk past he throws a fit at them from the safety of his cushions. I spoke to the vets and we all decided to go ahead and try with some new treatment. It's steroids. There are a few options that could be wrong with him. It could be Leishmaniasis, despite the negitive tests. It could be cancer. It could be autoimmune. It could be something else. We've tried Leish medication already, and there wasn't any improvement. He was stable, but was he getting better? No. It could be cancer, but the end result will stil be the same. We have decided to give it a shot and try him on the steroids. If they don't work, they will kill him. It's a 50/50 either way. BUT other pet stuff here too IT's going well. I've managed to get work for all the team last month, and we've had a whole new load of dog walking requests. Luckily for us, an old island friend has just moved up so she fits RIGHT into the role of dog walker. COVID has finally caught up with us in Siem Reap. We're hitting 150 cases a day now, luckily the vaccine is just starting to roll out across the city. Mostly I just ignore it, because COVID/No COVID I still wear my mask, I still keep my distance, I still trade out my social life for my furry friends....so nope. No change! Last week I did finally get to escape Siem Reap though. I got a share taxi down to Battambang to visit some friends from when I lived there last year. That was the much needed break from town that I had been craing sinc last year. It was nothing major, a little run, walking the doggies there, some cycling, a couple (literal couple) of beers. I'm just feeling so refreshed now. That combo'd in with mne and Jared's Daycation to Anatara resort for their Brunch buffet. Yep. Just what I needed. COMBO THAT WITH ANGKOR TACOS $3 BURRITOS. ITS GONNA BE A GREAT MONTH!

The bats are free as well, and we played Angkor Putt again and Dow laid in the water on one of the holes. So yep That's the peak of excitment. Nothing much to see here now. As you were.
